Official reports says, A tanker carrying fuel has exploded killing almost 80 and leaving about 110 injured in western Mozambique.
The explosion in the western part village of Caphiridzange in Tete province in Mozambique on Thursday has since left many dead and more injured but what caused the blast is still yet to unraveled.
The village is said to be bordered with Malawi, when getting reports from residents around the area of the explosion, some said, maybe the truck was ambushed and attacked, while some said after the truck broke down people were trying to pump-out fuel and that might cause a spark that led to the explosion.
Radio Mozambique statement, During the blast, some dozens of victims tried to escape to a near-by local river to avoid much burnt.
The government said it "deplores the loss of life and is currently providing the necessary assistance in order to save lives and to comfort the victims' families".
Some three Mozambique ministers are planning to visit the province on Friday were the explosion happened to find out what really caused the blast.
The government of Mozambique recently increased the price of fuel because of its currency against the dollar, and the country is named among the poorest nation in the world.
Mozambique gained her independence from Portugal in 1975 before suffering for a civil war that ended in 1992 and since then the economy is still badly affected.
Mozambique has a population of 24 million people and more than half the population is living below poverty level.
