    2% of recovered looted funds to given to EFCC as a reward, Nigeria's Senate Committee handling corruption cases said

    There have been fight of corruption in the Nigeria system and the country in general with the help of Economy Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since Mohammadu Buhari assumed office as the President of the Federation last year and a lot of looted funds and properties have been recovered from corrupt government officials by the Commission.

    With the effort so far of the commission in recovering the looted public funds, the Nigeria Senate have decided to reward their diligent commitments by giving the EFCC 2% of the recovered fund.

    Senator Chukwuka Utazi Chairman, Senate Committee handling the cases of the Anti-Corruption cases, was speaking when he led other members of the committee to Enugu State that "There is a bill for an Act to amend the EFCC laws, We will pass the bill next week.

    "We have made provisions for the EFCC to auction seized assets. We have also made provision for special funding for the EFCC. Going forward, the EFCC will keep 2% of whatever it recovers for its operational cost. We have big plans to ensure that things are working well for the EFCC," Senator Utazi said.

    While speaking, He (Utazi) also said their visits to various government agencies handling corruption cases in the country, is to ensure that they are being motivated and that the committee is ready to contribute its quota in ensuring corruption fight is achieved positively.
