Good News: A boy born 'head-upside-down' has been operated upon successfully after living with it for 13 years

    Before the operation
A 13-year-old boy named Mahendra Ahirwar has been suffering from a rare sickness that had his head turned upside down since birth.

The sickness had saw him suffer so many freedom like sitting, walking or standing because his backbone is very weak to perform all that activities.

He could not do anything on his own unless being assisted by parents and family members.

    Mahendra and father
His parents, Mukesh Ahirwar, 41 and Sumitra Ahirwar, 36, work as laborers has tried all their best to have their beloved son treated by visiting more than 50 doctors across the country but none were able to detect what actually caused their son's deformity.

They kept up trying because they wouldn't want their son to suffer such pains and made it clear "their son rather die than to see him suffer".

It was a life changing for both the parents and Mahendra after a former NHS surgeon operated on the patient (Mahendra) successfully and ever since then, he able to eat and drink on his own

     Before and after the operation

Spinal surgeon Dr Rajagopalan Krishan, from a hospital in Delhi performed the operation after generous mother-of-two Julies Jones, from Liverpool, raised a staggering £12,000 through a crowd funding page.

The operation saw the surgeon removed disks from the boy’s neck and replaced them with a bone graft from his pelvis and the doctor (Dr Krishna) then secured everything with a metal plate to ensure the neck remained straight.

Mahendra and parents after the operation

After the operation was successful, just after two weeks Mehendra is recovering real fast as he is able to be playing with his friends and learning how to read and write as well.

The doctor said Mahendra will have to wear a neck brace for approximately six months.

"I had no hope of getting better in life but now I’m ok my dreams have risen up. I want to be successful in life now", Mahendra said in excitement.

The parents are wishing and hoping that Mahendra will be able to start school some day.
