Winners of Euro 2016 and Copa America Centenario to face off?

    Alejandro Domiguez with the Trophy

Just like it is done in UEFA champions league when the champions of the trophy meets champions of Africa's Trophy, the president of CONMEBOL, Alejandro Dominguez, has formally written to UEFA to organize a continental match for both the winner of Euro competition and Copa America champion.

If peradventure UEFA welcomes the invitation, then the semi-official tilt would be played in South America later this year.

Alejandro Dominguez said "They [UEFA] are analysing our proposal and we expect a quick answer".

In respect to that effect, the president of CONMEBOL, CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani, and Copa America Organising Committee gave a joint conference.

They boasted about the 46,000 average attendance in the 32 matches played in the United States.

They said "It has been a magnificent tournament with World Cup-worthy numbers".

In spite of the satisfaction provoked by this year's special event, it is unlikely Copa America returns to the United States soon due to several factors: the Gold Cup, the difficulty in convincing European clubs to lend their players and CONMEBOL's own schedule.

"The plan is to hold the next Copa America in Brazil in 2019," Dominguez said.

The winner of Copa America Centenario will be officially acknowledged in the history books, so Chile are vying to win their second trophy, while Argentina are looking to tie Uruguay with 15 titles, which is the most of any nation.

The Chileans have assured their participation in next year's FIFA Confederations Cup, though, regardless of what happens at MetLife Stadium.

Dominguez praised every person involved in the organisation of the Copa America Centenario, leaving behind the corruption that persecuted South American football associations for a long time.
