    Nigeria Army Has Announced the Arrest of 19 Niger Delta Militants

    Nigeria Army has announced the arrest of suspected oil vanders in the Niger Delta region

    The Nigeria Army announced that they have been able to arrest some suspected oil militants in the Niger Delta region.

    "According to the Nigeria Army the militants were about carrying out their usual act of bombing oil facilities when they were apprehended.

    "After some investigations, it seems the arrested militants are not in anyway connected to the Niger Delta Avengers.

    "During the raid in the Niger Delta region, the Nigerian Army reported, they have been able to arrest 19 suspected oil thefts out of many, of the Niger Delta region, claiming the militants were about blowing up a pipeline operated by the Nigerian subsidiary of Italy's Eni.

    "According to Vanguard, three of the arrested oil thefts confessed that, they were coordinators of several pipeline bombings across the oil producing southern state of Bayelsa and Delta State.

    "Nigeria Army quote' "One of the arrested suspects, John Oboka aka Jamaica confessed to the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) crude oil Pipeline at Escravos"

    "Still there are no trace of any connection with the Niger Delta Avengers after much investigations carried out on the suspected 19 oil thefts, and there is a report that the federal government has agreed to negotiate with the Niger Delta Militants, but the group has denied meeting any government representatives.

    "Since the attack on oil pipelines in the region, the production of oil has gone down to 1.6 million barrels per day, well below the expected 2.2 million barrels per day.
