    Tragedy as plane carrying Brazil football team crashed in Colombia

    According to report, the plane was carrying 81 passengers including the football team, that were due to participate in a competition which is Copa Sudamericana final against Medellin team Atletico National, now the competition which was slated for Wednesday has since be suspended due to the tragedy caused by the crash.

    The plane was said to have been travelling from Bolivia to Colombia and carrying members of the Chapecoense football team, it was a chartered flight report says.

    The plane crashed shortly after midnight on the mountainous area outside the city of Medellin in Colombia.

    What led to the plane crash is yet to be known as report says there might be survivors but did not tell how many casualties recorded as at the time of filing this report.

    However the competition has been suspended because of the tragedy of the plane crash.

    In 2014, the team from the city of Chapeco got promoted to first Brazil's division reached the final of Copa Sudamericana after they edged out San Lorenzo of Argentina.

    Describing the plane crash, Federico Gutierrez, Medellin Mayor, described it as "a tragedy of huge proportions".

    The airport which is Jose Maria Cordova de Rionegro, is on the service of Medellin, has confirmed through their Twitter account: "Confirmed, the aircraft licence number CP2933 was carrying the team @ChapecoenseReal. Apparently there are survivors."

    Investigation is currently going on, to know the cause and the numbers of casualties and probably survivors as well.
