Chelsea have gazumped Crystal Palace and West Ham to agree a stunning £33million deal with Marseille for striker Michy Batshuayi.

The Blues have also seen off competition from Juventus to land the coveted striker, who scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season.

The 22-year-old will now be granted special permission to leave the Belgium squad for a medical and is expected to sign a five year deal to become Antonio Conte’s first signing.

Chelsea have had Batshuayi on their shortlist for some time now and finally agreement has been reached with the striker.

The deal for Batshuayi happened in the afternoon on Tuesday at about 5 pm after speculations that Crystal Palace might snatched the player away.

The ambitious Eagles agreed a £31.6 million fee for the highly-rated Belgian and offered him wages of £110,000-a-week.

But Batshuayi stalled as he did not want to go to Selhurst Park and jumped at the chance of a move to Stamford Bridge.

Juventus had only bid £24 million and were unable to meet Marseille’s asking price. West Ham indicated to Marseille that they were willing to meet the full asking price and were confident of doing a deal to deny Palace.

Chelsea, however, went straight to Batshuayi’s advisors to confirm they were willing to sign the striker and, once told of their interest, he dismissed all other offers to go to Stamford Bridge.

Batshuayi was last night said to be overjoyed at the prospect of playing for the Blues next season.

Tottenham bowed out of the race several weeks ago after refusing to meet Marseille’s huge asking price.

With Michy Batshuayi's deal, it means Chelsea left both Crystal Palace, West-Ham, Juventus and Tottenham empty handed.

Despite suggestions of a late move from the north Londoners Batshuayi was not interested.

There are more signings Chelsea are expected to make, like Rma's Radja Nainggolan who has been on the list of Chelsea even before Batshuayi deal, N'Golo Kante of Leicester and John Stones of Everton.
