Dust to ravage round part of Cyprus cities for about 5 days
There is going to be disturbance of high level of dust in parts of Cyprus cities for at least 5 days, reports has said early hours of Monday from the labour inspection department of Cyprus.
A red alert was issued for Nicosia, Paphos and Limassol where the hourly concentration of respirable particulate matter with a diameter smaller than 10mm (PM 10) was higher than 200 μg/m3 (microgrammes per cubic metre).
By 9.30am it increased to 407 μg/m3 in Nicosia, 336.2 μg/m3 in Limassol and 289.4 μg/m3 in Paphos.
The safe limit is 50 μg/m3.
According to the Met office the dust levels will remain high until Thursday.
Employers are required to take appropriate measures to protect employees working in open spaces and vulnerable groups such as the elderly and people with health problems should stay inside whenever possible.
