Who says stress doesn't change people's appearance, check-out the before and after pictures of some football bosses who aged rapidly in one club

Being a football manager is a stressful business.

Despite all that time you have spent on Football Manager 2017, you cannot truly understand just how exhausting it is to be in charge of a major football club (sorry to break it to you, but taking Scunthorpe to the Champions League final while sitting at home in your pants isn't the same thing).

    Luis Enrique
If you think we're exaggerating, just take one look at at the Luis Enrique pictures you can see above.

On the left, you can see the fresh-faced Spaniard who took charge of Barcelona in 2014. On the right, you can see the knackered, worn out shell of a man who has decided in 2017 that he desperately needs a break.

That is what three years of being responsible for one of the world's biggest, most important teams does for your appearace.

However, Enrique is not the only one who has been ravaged and weathered by the stress of one big job.

Just check out these unfortunate transformations…

The Scot bounded in to Villa Park in 2012 with high hopes of establishing his new side among the top clubs in the land, and things actually started off pretty well. Then they stopped.

And as they did so, his appearance degenerated from that of an eager bank manager to a geography teacher to desperate for the final bell of the day to ring.
    Before
    Franco Zola
Once the happy, springing sprite at Chelsea, Franco was only West Ham's manager for 21 months between 2008 and 2010, but to look at him it could well have been 21 years.

The Italian lost a lot of his hair, and turned that smiley expression into the vacant, terrified stare of a man who knew he had to get goals out of Carlton Cole.

Fresh out of the Barca youth and reserve setups, Pep looked as fresh as a daisy and as youthful as he did when he was a player when he took on the top job at the Nou Camp in 2008.

But despite the huge success he would enjoy, there was one thing that he couldn't master: holding on to his hair.
    Before
    David Moyes
Famously ginger when he took the top job at Old Trafford, clearly trying to clumsily follow in the footsteps of Sir Alex Ferguson was not kind to old Moyes.

    In so, so many ways.

All smooth and slick and suave when he arrived at Chelsea in 2004, the Special One's rows with Roman Abramovich which led to his 2007 departure clearly affected him.

He recovered though, just like he usually does.

After winning the FA Cup with Wigan in 2013 (and getting relegated, but we'll forget that bit), Bobby Martinez was the apple of many an eye, and he brought a youthful dash to Everton when he replaced Moyes.

Three years later, after going through the wringer at Goodison Park, he left the club with a haunted expression of a man who'd seen too much.
    Before
    Slaven
Super Slaven arrived at West Ham with a dream of bravely taking the club forward into their new London Stadium, and he's done that. He just seems to have done it at the expense of his health.

The Croatian boss cut a fearsome figure on the touchline for the recent clash with Watford, and while you'd never really want to cross him at any point, you'd want that even less now.
