Rivers State of Nigeria Re-run election Update

Today is the re-run election of various Federal and State houses in the state and there are tensions everywhere.

However the world has called on the people of Rivers State to make sure of free and fair election during the re-run exercise.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the state as well to make sure of not shielding innocent blood during the exercise.

While speaking, President Buhari said: "The rerun elections should not be seen as a do-or-die affair to the extent that people will be killed, maimed and property destroyed in a mindless display of crude primitive instincts. Innocent blood should never be sacrificed on the altar of political contest for temporary power".

Rivers State's Governor Nyesome Wike have said the state government will make sure of peaceful election and fight whoever wants to rig the election.
