Following the shocking win of Donald Trump in the US presidential election that was concluded on November 8th, 2016, there are strong rumour that Facebook helped the Republican candidate Donald Trump to claim victory after fake news about the candidate.

But the founder of the social network has come out to strongly defend his network saying, saying is "crazy" to say Facebook helped the Republican to win the US presidential election through fake news shared on the site during campaign.

Mr Zuckerberg defended his site by saying it should not be held responsible while he was speaking on stage at Techonomy, technology conference in California.

"The idea that fake news on Facebook influenced the election in any way is a pretty crazy idea.

"If you believe that then I don't think you have internalized the message Trump supporters are trying to send in this election," Zuckerberg said.

When carrying out investigation about some data shared on the site (Facebook), it shows that fake stories were largely published than the original stories and in America today, Facebook is the most used in terms of communicating and getting information without verification.

Facebook site is specifically designed to show users content it thinks will be of most interest, creating what some describe as a "filter bubble" that reinforces a person's view without injecting differences in opinion.

These information has led to the accusation of the social network but Zuckerberg, the founder, has come out to strongly defend its site.
