    Portuguese and Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches has won the 'golden boy award' beating Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashord to second spot

    Portuguese Renato Sanches, who plays his club football as a midfielder for Bayern Munich as well his home country Renato Sanches has won the European Golden Boy award, beating Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford to second spot.

    Sanches has joined the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Raheem Sterling in winning the European best player award as under 21 and the award ceremony will be held in Monte Carlo on Monday were he will be presented with the award.

    The award is normally voted by journalists across Europe and is said to have been established by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003, who also revealed this years award on the front page of their paper.
