    Meet a Former Manchester United player, who is on the verge of becoming a priest

    Philip Mulryne, who played for Manchester United in the 1990s, was made a deacon in the Dominican Order during a service at a Dublin church on Saturday

    Mulryne who is now 38-year-old, capped 27 times for Northern Ireland, and made his debut for Manchester United when he featured in a League Cup clash against Ipswich in October 1997.
    Mulryne however made a league appearance when Manchester United played against Barnsley in which United were victors by 2-0, both Andy Cole, Ryan Giggs and Teddy Sheringham featured in the match.

    With the array of players under Sir Alex Ferguson, Philip Mulryne was unable to secure a first team place, which made moved to Norwich City i 1999 were he capped 34 times in 2003-2004 season, Norwich City gained promotion to the Premier League.

    He later left Norwich City to join Cardiff City in the summer of 2005, He made ten appearances for Cardiff City and joined Leyton Orient and King's Lynn before finally retiring in 2008.


    Mulryne is now set to become a priest next year after he was ordained by Dirmuid Martin on Saturday afternoon, the Archbishop of Dublin
