    Cyprus Settlement Update: South Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades vows to work with current UN secretary General to end conflict of both South and Northern Cyprus

    The current Unite Nation's Secretary General General Antonio Guterres was congratulated by South Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades and promised to collaborate with him with the support of his government to achieving a solution to the divided Island.

    Anastasiades said: "I wish you every success in fulfilling your noble mission".

    He went on to say: "I look forward to work closely with you in achieving a peaceful and comprehensive settlement on the long-standing Cyprus problem, based on a bi-communal, bi-zonal federation with political equality. A viable, lasting and functional settlement that will safeguard the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Cypriots."

    President Anastasiades also said the successful election that saw the General elected as the new UN secretary symbolizes a new era of change among the United Nations. 

    "The landmark selection procedure for the new Secretary General of the Organization, which included public hearings and informal dialogues greatly increased the transparency and inclusiveness of this process," He added.
