The election petition tribunal sitting in Makurdi over the credibility of the election of David Mark as senator representing Benue south against the All Progressive Candidate, Daniel Onjeh, have been upheld by the court.
Daniel Onjeh filed a petition contesting the result of the election but the tribunal presiding over the case, struck the petition that was brought before her.
The National Assembly petition tribunal struck the petition on the 30th of June 2016, which still declare David Mark as the winner of the re-run election Benue South senatorial district on February 20th 2016.
Justice Dipeolu however upheld the election of former Nigeria senate president in October, but the All Progressive Congress Candidate was not satisfied with the outcome and took appeal in which was granted and had the election rerun.
After the rerun was conducted, David Mark was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In its ruling on
Thursday, June 30, the tribunal struck out the petition filed before it
by Daniel Onjeh, the All Progressives Congress candidate in the February
20 rerun in Benue South senatorial district.
