German police officers in the scene
The machete the attacker used
A pregnant woman is dead and at least two others are injured after a machete-wielding Syrian refugee allegedly attacked passersby on a German street.
The 21-year-old randomly hacked at terrified members of the public with the 12-inch blade in the city of Reutlingen this afternoon, it is reported.
A mum-to-be was killed in the horrific rampage near a kebab stand, while another woman and a man suffered unspecified injuries, according to local media.
The man seem lifeless
The bearded refugee, described as 'completely out of his mind', was only stopped when a brave BMW driver apparently ploughed into him.
He was arrested by cops as he lay 'motionless' on the pavement. Police have since said there is 'no indication' he was linked to terrorism.
Photos of the scene show the man lying on his side, with a bloodied face. Armed cops can be seen standing above him, resting their boots on his body.
The motive behind the attack at the Listplatz Square remains unclear, according to Germany's Bild and Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspapers.
However, some reports say the suspect attacked the pregnant woman with the machete after an argument developed between them.
The injured victims are believed to include a 22-year-old woman and a man.
This evening, police said the man is a Syrian asylum seeker who had been involved in previous incidents causing injuries to other people.
However, he said he apparently acted alone in today's attack, which took place close to a kebab stand in a city bus station.
"There is no danger to anyone else at this time," the official told Reuters.
