APC's Edo State Governorship candidate has emerged after the All Progressive Congress electing of a credible candidate to fly the flag of the Ruling party in that State which kicked off on Saturday, June 18 in Benin City, the state capital.

After a turbulent primaries in search of a credible candidate, finally a winner has emerged to fly the flag of the great party.
The ruling party of the State has elect Mr Godwin Obaseki as a result of doubling the chairman of Edo State economy and strategy team under the Governor Adams Aliu Oshiomhole's Administration.
The election Committee Chairman of the APC, Governor Aminu Bello Massari of Katsina state promised all the delegates aspiring to secure the governorship ticket, that the committee will be honest and fair to all when the primaries was about to commence.
The committee chairman, Governor Aminu Bello Masari made sure he oversaw all the activities of the exercise and later declared the winner around 4:05am Sunday the 19 June 2016 as Godwin Obaseki.
There were other credible candidates of the party that participated in the exercise and wasn't an Obaseki's show alone, it will be recall that 11 contestants were involved in the exercise that kicked off from 18 June and was concluded early hours of Sunday 19 June but the Edo state economic and strategic boss came top and the venue was Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
The credible candidates that took part in the exercise were the current deputy governor of the state, Dr Pius Odubu, former governor and senator Prof Osarhiemen Osunbor and a former minister for works, Chris Ogiemwonyi, Maj-Gen Charles Airhiavbere (retd.), Kenneth Imasuagbon, Peter Esele, Tina Agbarha, Blessing Agbomere, Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula, Professor Egbegue Amadasu and Austin Emua.
According to Punch, Obaseki the winner of the APC primaries scored a total votes of 1,618 to win by a landslide margin over the rest contestants as current deputy governor of the state scored 471 votes, Imasuagbon and Ogiemwonyi had 247 and 137 to settle for third and fourth places respectively, Airiavbere got 11 votes, Arigbe-Osula had 100 votes, Esele 8 votes, Amadasun 8 votes, Emuan 7 votes, Agbomere 5 votes and Tina Agbarha scored 3 votes. There were total cancellation of 41 votes.
Even before the primaries, there were rumours going round the media that Mr Godwin Obaseki was the anointed one that will be endorse as the credible flag bearer of the APC in the Edo state chapter ahead of the Governorship election that will hold November 2016, this is based on how he was endorsed by the APC lawmakers in the House of Representative including various sociopolitical groups in the State.
The Chairman election Committee, Governor Aminu Bello Masari advised the contestants and their various delegates to see the primaries as family affair that none of them is a "loser" He further said " the aspirants are 12 in number; and that out of 12 one of them must emerge as the winner and that the remaining 11 will be needed by the winner to be face the general election slated for November.
"So there is no loser among them. We consider all of you that are participating as winners"
