Nobel prize-winning author Wole Soyinka, a nobel price winning author, is a prominent Nigerian and has a citizenship of US and during the US campaign election, Soyinka vowed to tear his green card if Donald Trump wins the presidency, and eventually the Republican won the election.

After the US presidential election that surprised the whole world after Donald Trump won, many Nigerians have been asking questions if really the Nobel prize winner will honour what he said.

But when Soyinka was in a conference at the university of Johannesburg, South Africa, he said he has destroyed the green card but no evidence of it, according to an AFP report.

"I have already done it, I have disengaged (from the United States). I have done what I said I would do.

"I had a horror of what is to come with Trump I threw away the (green) card, and I have relocated, and I’m back to where I have always been", Wole Soyinka said.

Soyinka has been living most of his life in the US and at the same time teaching in various universities including Harvard Cornell and Yale, his Nobel prize winning in Literature happened in 1986.

He however advised Nigerians or whoever wants to get US green card should get it, that it is important in so many ways.

Soyinka added: "It’s useful in many ways. I wouldn’t for one single moment discourage any Nigerians or anybody from acquiring a green card but I have had enough of it".
