Dembele about to enter the pitch
Karamoko Kader Dembele has made his debut for the Celtic Under-20 side at the age of just 13.The barely teenage namesake of senior squad striker Moussa replaced Jack Aitchison in the 81stminute of the Development Squad's 3-1 win over Hearts.
The opportunity arose when Celtic’s Development Squad was decimated by international call-ups but as the adage goes, if you're good enough you're old enough.
And according to the club's official website "the diminutive playmaker didn’t look out of place".
But even then head coach Tommy McIntyre surprised everyone with the inclusion of the tiny forward.
"To put it in perspective, Kristoffer Ajer plays in that team and he's 6ft 5in."
Dembele in action for Celtic U20 against Hearts
Dembele, like so many before, has been likened to a young Lionel Messi with his pace, power and close ball control when running at speed. He has been said to have all the assets to join the long list of greats who have, as the song says, passed through Parkhead's gates.
His Messi-esque skills already have fans worried that the cash-rich clubs will try to snatch, him but Dembele's parents, from the Ivory Coast, are believed to be happy and settled in Scotland.
They are also delighted with the progress he's making with the Celtic Development Squad.
Like Messi, Dembele often cuts in from the right wing onto his favoured left foot, can pick a pass and takes a wicked set piece.
He's strong, powerful and full of running, and it looks as if no one can get near him when he's on the ball
