Tupac Shakur
After Elvis, Tupac appears to have the highest amount of people who believe he is not actually dead.
Theories range from him living the high life in Cuba to being secretly under the witness protection scheme.
Tupac was with Death Row Records boss Suge Knight, leaving a Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, when another car pulled up alongside their vehicle and blasted it.
Passenger Tupac was hit multiple times in the chest, arm and thigh.
The rapper was placed in an induced coma in hospital, but declared dead on September 13.
The killer or killers have never been caught.
A final picture of Tupac shows him alive in the car alongside Knight moments before the shooting.
And, it has been noted the date on the photo is September 8, the following day after the attack, leading some to suggest Tupac was still alive at the time he was reported to be in hospital.
Earlier this year the conspiracy theory made global headlines after an image purportedly showing him with singer Rihanna emerged alongside the claim he was going to reveal himself to the world later this year.
In the US, celebrity website Thereporterz.com ran a story headlined: "After Nearly 19 Years Of Hiding Tupac Shakur Now 44 Comes Out Of Hiding."
The report was the first claim he was about to return "from the dead".
The website also included what appeared to be a picture of the star with his arm draped around a modern day Rihanna, who would have been eight when Tupac died.
The article said: "Tupac Shakur, who was supposedly killed at the age of 25 is now admitting he has been hiding this whole time.
"It was Shakur who in 1996 was reportedly attending a special event in Las Vegas, the Mike Tyson-Benson fight, and then afterwards was brutally murdered.
"A day or so later he is autopsied, then quickly cremated. There is no funeral. Nor is there any record of a tribute or memorial.
"Now we know exactly why it was - because Tupac Shakur was never killed - and it is unclear why he has been hiding.
"This story is still under development but Tupac has already been spotted with celebrities."
YouTube channel DAHBOO777 also put together an extensive video in which not claims the star has been caught on camera recently alive during a 2011 Occupy Movement demo wearing a bright yellow raincoat, and is even goading the world by sneakily appearing in other rapper's videos.
Claims of his still being alive have received mixed responses online.
Nagee Hannah posted on YouTube: "No one believes it’s the real Tupac, take a chill pill."
Another person said: "Pac is dead. Leave his memory alone.
"Faking your death is hiding and Pac wouldn't be about that.
"Even if he is, leave him alone."
But Cheyenne Takitimu said: "Sort of like Bin Laden, no one can really check on any facts that show he died, just gotta take someone's word for it.”
Angelica Gutierrez added: "It's 2016 and I still believe he's alive."
Tupac and Rihanna
Critics also say in the Rihanna image he did not appear to have aged in the 19 years since he was last seen and it could have easily been photoshopped.
But the theories still abound.
In honour of the writer Niccolo Machiavelli, Tupac changed his stage name to Makaveli in 1996, after reading his books in prison.
It is said that the letters of Makaveli can be rearranged to spell "Am Alive. K."
Reported sightings of the musician by locals in Cuba only add to the claims.
Mystery over what happened to his body also fuels rumours.
He cremated a day after he died and people say no one saw the body.
And even some of the rapper's own lyrics add to the mystery.
In the track Ain't Hard 2 Find, released the year he died, he said: "I heard a rumour that I died, murdered in cold blood traumatised. Pictures of me in my final states, you know Mama cried. But that was fiction, some coward got the story twisted."
And on Blasphemy, he rapped: "I'm contemplating plots wondering which door to go. Brothers getting shot, coming back resurrected." Proof is in the pudding?
There are also claims he is at a small resort in New Zealand, or even being used by the FBI as a witness and secretly hidden away.
