America sent two B-1B Lancer strategic bombers on a flight over their allies South Korea as tensions mount in the region following the North Korean dictator’s underground test.
The fearsome aircraft made their journey amid claims by deranged despot Kim Jong-un that he is ready to conduct yet another nuclear test, just days after he ordered one that was so large it caused a 5.6 magnitude earthquake.
Report has it that the jet can carry a larger payload of guided and unguided weapons than any other aircraft in the US Air Force’s arsenal, conducted a low-altitude flight over the Osan Air Base in South Korea which is just 48 miles from the "Demilitarized Zone" border with the North.
Both General Vincent Brooks, commander of the 28,500 US troops stationed in South Korea and South Korea's Commander, General Lee Sun-jin. were there to watch the show of aerial show of force.
"Today's demonstration provides just one example of the full range of military capabilities in the deep resources of this strong alliance to provide and strengthen extended deterrence”, said US General.
Despite the threat of further sanction of the United Nation Kim Jong-un still vows to continue with the plans of launching the nuclear bomb prompting America’s to demand a swift and strong response to Pyongyang’s actions.
Speaking in the South Korean capital on Tuesday, Sung Kim, the US’ envoy on North Korea, said: “Our intention is to secure the strongest possible (U.N. Security Council) resolution that includes new sanctions as quickly as possible.”
He added that America wants to work with China, North Korea’s main political ally, to reach a resolution to the volatile situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Kim said:"China has been very clear that they understand the need for a new U.N. security council resolution in response to the latest North Korean nuclear test."
