    Herdsmen in Trouble As Community Wages War Against Them

    The incessant attacks by herdsmen on the community have left the community with no option than to fight back, Chairman of Njiya-Goron community states.
    With the report emanating so far, 65 people have lost their lives through the attacks of the herdsmen and properties worth N2 billion, according to Nayangom.

    The community leader further urged the federal government to act quickly by summoning the political leaders to come up with solutions to tackle the problems of the herdsmen in Adamawa state.

    The community is bent on waging war against the Fulani herdsmen in order to stop their attacks on the community and the state in general.

    Manassah Nayangom, the community leader while speaking in Yola on Monday, July 4 said "the incessant attacks by herdsmen on the community which had claimed several lives and destroyed properties, have left the community with no option than to fight back since authorities had failed to contain the herdsmen’s attacks".

    The community which comprises of 13 villages, had so far lost 65 people and property worth over N2 billion, said the community chairman. 

    "The hunting and killing of our people at will by these blood suckers must stop; otherwise we have no choice than to take drastic measures to defend ourselves, for it appears the government does not care whether we are dead or alive".

    "There were wanton destruction and looting of our properties worth billions of naira by vandals".

    "This left us with no alternative than to run to the National Human Right Commission (NHRC) in order to enforce our fundamental human rights, as we hold strongly that the right to life is a universal gift of God that no race or tribe, no matter how strong, can lay higher claim to it as being insinuated by Fulani herdsmen," Nayangom added.

    With the same Fulani attacks in Delta sate, the herdsmen have agreed to leave a community known as Olomu Kingdom atleast for two weeks, this is due to the directives of the traditional councils of Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli south local government area of Delta state, this order took effect from June 25th to July 9, 2016, according to Vanguard.

    The herdsmen's exit will enable the community to make proper arrangement to curtail further attacks of the herdsmen.
