Chelsea Are on The Verge of Landing Leonardo Bonucci in Stanford Bridge As Manchester City Bid is Rejected

    Leonardo Bonucci

Leonardo Bonucci wants to join Antonio Conte's Chelsea revolution, according to reports.

The Italy centre-back, who helped Conte reach the quarter-finals at Euro 2016, is also on Manchester City's radar.

But Bonucci would prefer a move to west London, according to the Sun.

Yesterday reports in Italy claimed City had seen a £38 million bid for Bonucci rejected.

But they are expected to return with a bid of around £51m (€65m) as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his defence.

Guardiola is also keen on John Stones and has been told he needs to pay £50m for him.

Chelsea meanwhile were linked with Bonucci earlier in the summer and now both the player and Conte are finished with the Euros they could come to the table again.

Chelsea have signed Belgium striker Michy Batshuaye  from Marseille and Conte wants to strengthen the side further before the start of the season.

The Italian needs defenders - and could play 3-5-2 - with Kurt Zouma expected to miss the start of the season and John Terry now 35.

Conte is also in the market for another striker with Avalro Morata his number one target.
