Buhari and Kachikwu
Nigeria President, Mohammadu Buhari has sacked NNPC Boss, Ibe Kachikwu, and immediately approved the composition of Board of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), under the law of section 1(12) of the NNPC Act of 1997.
This was announced by the presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina.
Ibe Kachikwu is still within the corporation as He is still the minister of sate for petroleum and will also serve as chairman of the newly elected board.
Buhari has appointed a new Group Managing Director of the corporation, whose name is Maikanti Kacalla Baru, presidency announced.
The newly elected board are comprises of; Chairman- Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Honourable Minister of state for petroleum; Group Managing Director- Dr Maikanti Kacalla Baru; The permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finace; Mahmoud Isa Dutse; Mallam Abba Kyari; Dr Thomas M.A John; Dr Pius O. Akinyelure; Dr Tajudeen Umar; Mallam Mohammed Lawal and Mallam Yusuf Lawal.
Appointing the new board members, President Buhari urged them to make good use of the responsibilities given to them and as well as making sure the nations critical asset is being managed well.
