It was England that struck first through a penalty kick when Raheem Sterling was brought down down in the 4th minute by Iceland goal keeper for Wayne Rooney to slot it past the Iceland goal stopper.

In the 6th minute of the game Iceland equalized through Sigurdsson and the second goal was in the 18th minute of play through same Sigurdsson, making it 2-1 in favour of Iceland.
